The family company Blå Station has been in existence since 1986 in Åhus a small coastal town in south-east Sweden.
The founding father Börge Lindau returned to his home town after many years of working in the renowned design team Lindau & Lindekrantz and implemented his own design series. The result is Blå Station: Swedish avantgarde par excellence.
Blå Station creates the ideas for industrial and at the same time traditionally classic forms from the conflicting priorities of industrial serial production and advanced material handling. Curiosity and adventurousness are, according to their statements, the fuel of the company.
The next generation with Mimi and Johan Lindau has already taken succession. That which the father once called into being with birch and rust-free steel is continued today by cooperating with young designers and and industry. So for example the chair Sting which was once made from aluminium and stainless steel is now developed with an innovative form of extruder technology. The chair as an aesthetic that has been given shape was promptly awarded the red dot award 2004.
New materials and innovative production technology united with individual form and design present a perfect symbiosis of design and technology. Blå Station has a wide range of current Scandinavian furniture object design from office furniture to the living room sofa.
Many Blå Station products are made to order which is why next to the standard models made on the production side other project-related materials and colours are also available on request.
