Purely Scandinavian: the Chronographs by Jacob Jensen – a line of contemporary simple chronographs that were awarded with the Red Dot Award 2006.
In technical terms the collection of Jacob Jensen watches has a lot in common with classic chronographs. Race drivers, pilots and others, who depend on exact time information, appreciate its functionality. Among watch connoisseurs, chronographs are also a desired collector's item. What is new at Jensen is the typical Scandinavian, reduced design.
Friends of objects designed by Jacob Jensen appreciate his geometrical and pure design and own signature. It is for a good reason that the Danish design company has been known internationally for more than a quarter century. Typical for Jacob Jensen: everything needless is being omitted, the focus is on clear lines, function and material.
"The Chronograph has already been produced as wristwatch in 1910. Its basic design didn't change since then," is what the designer Timothy Jacob Jensen thinks. He carrys on the company of his father as chief designer. His father counts to the most important industrial designers of the 20th century.
"Most of the Chronographs are more or less variations of the same theme: the more numbers, subdivisions and details, the better it is. One should still not forget that a clock is a material object of daily use and a piece of jewelry at the same time. That is the reason why we decided to create a special Chronograph. A clock which would be simple, beautiful and timeless. And with it fulfill all demands that one could have from a Chronograph. I think the result perfectly expresses our design philosophy," says the 42 years old man.
"We know that we attract a very particular group of clock-enthusiasts with our products. Some want sophisticated accessories and gadgets, others prefer simplicity. We created a chronograph that fulfills the demand of clearness," states the designer.
