In 1999 Alfredo Häberli created the Origo tableware for the Finnish design manufacturer Iittala. Nobody would have predicted then that this product would become a real design classic.
The Origo design was awarded international prizes several times: the IF Design Award in 2002, the Excellent Swedish Design Award in 2001 and the Japanese Prize Zakka of the Year 2001.
Striped and colourful
A successful product should consist of the best-possible quality besides consisting of a remarkable design. This is especially important for the Origo-series according to Iittala, since it "stands the burden of being used every day during a long period without any problems".
Being dishwasher as well as microwave-safe and also frost and heat-resistant, the Origo porcelain is a (not only) colourful enrichment from the mornings to the evenings.
Within a few years Origo has managed to attract the world's attention. It is available in orange, red, beige and brown; thus, it is not difficult for everybody to find his favourite. Some say that Häberli caught the nerve of the time with these colours. Whether it is right will only be discovered in the future.
