The Vassily Tray by Alessi is flexible and inspires enthusiasm through its simple, and practical shape.
A U-shaped stainless steel plate forms the bottom of the tray and two equally wide handles at the plate ends frame the surface of the tray. The inclined, wide side handles give the tray visual solidity and indicate the typical blunt pyramidal shape of a wooden tray.
The available tray sizes are defined by the capacities of cups and accessories. Thus, the tray with dimensions of 45 x 30 cm fulfils its purpose for 6 espresso cups with a sugar bowls. The smaller tray (33 x 30) holds 4 espresso cups plus sugar bowl, and the larger tray of 55 x 33 holds 8 espresso cups.
Designer Giulio Iacchetta commented on the design of his Vassily Tray: "Guess who's coming for dinner?"… When I was younger, taking a serving a tray from the dresser always meant one thing: We're expecting guests. And that's why I'm still a fan of those trays. They are tools that measure the distance between your arms; the greater, the bigger the hug and range of offerings. Two hands are not enough if you have lots of friends and want to entertain all guests at once. Therefore, we created a plate by the metre - infinitely long; Even if we ultimately agreed on just three dimensions.
The Vassily Tray by Alessi is also available in the sizes 35x30 cm and 55x30 cm.
