The drinking glass Kartio series was designed in 1958 by Kaj Franck for the Finnish design Iittala manufacturer and impresses with its constant simplicity:

"If you want to create a perfect glass, you have to start with the hand that holds the glass. One has to wonder what kind of glass this hand would like to hold."

Many attempts have been made to copy Kaj Franck's drinking Kartio glasses by applying his rational geometry to new designs. All these attempts failed because the designers did not have the experience required to design simple everyday objects. Complexity is rarely wise, while simplicity requires courage and imagination.

The Kartio range is elegant yet durable enough for everyday use. It includes glasses, carafes and bowls, all of which are available in several different colours and clear glass. All of the Iittala offered colours are available.
