Vase Classics on Offer
The curved wave-shape is generally regarded as a hallmark of the Alvar Aalto products and buildings. The Scandinavian architect and designer perfected this form for the design of his legendary vase. Designed in 1936 on the occasion of the world exhibition in Paris and first in series in 1937, the vase does only represent the company Iittala, but it has also become one of the most famous glass objects in the world.
At the time, the famous hotel "Savoy" in Helsinki used the vase to decorate all of its tables, certainly contributing to this fame. Many people were fascinated by the design - completely new at the time -
and from then on, the Aalto vase received the name "Savoy Vase".
Since then the company Iittala has presented the vase in many different designs and colours and now offers a unique set: The Aalto vase gift set includes the 95 mm and the 160 mm vases in clear glass or opal.
