The Muuto Elevated Vase has Nordic roots – not only in the design, but also regarding the combination of the materials: The ash wood represents the heavy and earthy part, while the glass introduces weightlessness and airiness.
Here is what the designer Thomas Bentzen explained about his lamp: "With Elevated it is about doing something for the flowers. The wooden bowl holds the glass vase and raises the flowers in a ritual-like way, framing them in a new, Nordic-poetic way. The materials are inspired by the flowers, which I would put in this vase myself. The wood represents the roots in earth and the glass emphasizes the airy height, as if the flowers weren't in a vase, but directly in the nature."
All these characteristics make up a vase with heavy and earthy base and airy-weightless top. The ash wood is polished and PU-painted, while the glass of the Muuto Elevated is mouth-blown and polished.
