Is the glass half-full or half-empty? Along this basic question and attitude to life Hans Bølling has created his two characters for ArchitectMade. The decorative wooden figures Optimist and Pessimist fulfil and complete one another like Ying and Yang.

The idea of setting up a monument to optimists and pessimists with his two figures occurred to Hans Bølling while he observed his colleagues whose contrary characters seemed like night and day to him. Optimist and Pessimist for ArchitectMade are a simplified presentation of positive and negative life attitudes of happiness and sadness.

The Optimist possesses a risen head and smiles, while the pessimist has his head lowered and deep-seated eyes. Not least both wooden figures are distinguished through the symbolic colour of their hair. The arms of the figures are movable and can reinforce the desired pose: with the arms stretched upwards the figure seems additionally euphoric and pleased, but if the arms are lowered in opposite, the figure looks sad.

With both wooden figures: Optimist and Pessimist different moods can be expressed on a likeable way. The lovingly figures are made out of teak wood by ArchitectMade. Each figure is thereby handmade.
