Alexander Girard is considered to be a master of patterns. He is famous for his colourful designs for Herman Miller, and his designs ornament small pieces of furniture, home accessories and textiles today.
Since he was a popular interior architect and industrial designer, Girard also started to sketch his own house in Santa Fe, which was when he also created the lovingly made Wooden Dolls. The detailed design objects, which were inspired by the designer's passion for the international folk arts, found a place in living rooms and children's rooms all over the world.
The growing popularity of the Wooden Doll family grew with the origin of the Vitra Home Complements Collection. The charming wooden figures belong to that collection, looking happy and darksome sometimes, including the Wooden Doll Cat and Dog.
Dog and cat were kept in a decent black contrasting the colourful family members. The playful figures are made of three pieces, connected by magnets. That is how the single elements can be turned, exchanged and plugged again.
- The wooden figures are made out of massive fir wood and hand-painted.
- They appear with a brochure in a sophisticated printed wooden box.
- Available in two sizes.
