The Navy bar stool is based on the same design as the classic Navy Chair 1006 from Emeco. The timeless stool is handmade from aluminium, which is why every specimen is unique.
Even today the Navy bar stool is still handcrafted in the USA. Emeco's craftsmen go through 77 stages of work and about 4 hours in order to manufacture just one Navy bar stool. Due to the laborious handwork, every stool is an individual piece. It does not only satisfy with its timeless design, but also thanks to its high production quality, stability and durability.
The robust qualities and functional design of the entire Navy series owe themselves to the series' origin: the Navy stool was developed as early as 1944 in collaboration with aluminium manufacturer ALCOA for the military. It was originally to have been used by the Navy, hence its name 'Navy Chair'. The result was a winner thanks to its light weight, stability and durability, just as good then as it is now.
The Navy bar stool from Emeco is also available in a polished aluminium version and in a special powder-coated version. Furthermore, the bar stool can be ordered with a height of 94 cm as well as with arm-rests.
