Pirkka was designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara in 1955. It is part of the Tapiovaara Family Collection form Artek today. The seating furniture speaks the typical language Tapiovaara's: A timeless design, straight-lined, but still with an unmistakable character.
Pirkka connects rustic forms with the design weightlessness of the 1950es. Apparently the bench spreads a cool elegance that made it one of the most desired pieces of furniture shortly after its appearance, despite its manufacturing out of solid wood.
The Pirkka bench finds its place in dining or living rooms and acts as stylish elegant design object. A total of two people can sit comfortably on the bench. The bench has dimensions of 120 cm of length and 44 cm of height.
The seat-area of the Pirkka bench is made out of high quality pinewood and available waxes, stained or lacquered. The frame consists of birch wood. Artek offers the bench in different editions so that the decision between black, brown and a honey tone exists.
