Alvar Aalto designed his Chair 69 in 1935 as minimalist chair for the dining table. The Chair 69 has the typical L-legs as well as most of the furniture designed by the Finnish, giving it the characteristic silhouette and making it possible to fix the frame directly at the seat.
The Chair 69 was initially designed like the Stool 60 and other famous furniture by Aalto, for the library in Wyborg. It soon started its successful adventure all around the world starting there, entering also private homes delighting with its clear and soft shape.
Artek manufactures the Chair 69 of birch veneer, which is painted in another step. There are also editions with laminated or cushioned seats available.
