Chair classic - Eames Plastic Side Chair DSR
The Eames Plastic Side Chair, which was designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1950, is a contemporary version of the legendary Fibreglass Chair. It was developed in cooperation with Zenith Plastics for the Museum of Modern Arts' "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition and was the first factory-made chair out of plastic.
Classic shape - new seat heights
The Eames Plastic Side Chair (Dining Height Side Chair Wooden Base) is made by Vitra in different varieties, colours and with different bases. This is how the chair can be combined as desired. The base is also available with a height of 43 cm since 2015. This is how Vitra reacts to the growing average body size, which has increased by 10 cm since the first production of the chair in 1950.
The small difference in height does not affect the combination between the "old" and new versions of the chair. Each group of chairs can be updated and extended without any problems.
Multipurpose chair
With its seat made out of polypropylene and the wire base with cross struts, the Eames Plastic Side Chair DSR (Dining Height Side Chair Rod Base) is robust and highly versatile. Nowadays, the classic Eames Chair is not only used in living rooms, but also in waiting rooms, cafes, restaurants and other public bodies.
