The Danish manufacturer Hay invited the designer brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to design a collection for the re-designed Copenhagen University (KUA). The result was the Copenhague series, which consists of a chair, a bar stool and diverse tables.
Hay and the Bouroullecs tried to design furniture for educational institutions, which clearly belong to this generation with their form and identity and which fulfil the demands of a university. That's the reason why the Copenhague Desk is very functional, but without getting too serious in its expression. The back screen enables to work together with several documents easily and ergonomically.
Since both designers also concentrated on renouncing institutional and office-like expressions of traditional furniture in scholar environments with their Copenhague Desk CPH190. They wanted to design objects with bigger originality and a homely appeal. Hay manufactures the Copenhague Desk out of oak wood, further editions are available on demand.
