Philippe Starck borrowed the name for his - 1979/ 1984 designed - shelf from the brilliant science fiction novella 'Ubik' by Philip K. Dick. Mac Gee is a timeless, beautiful creation, made in collaboration with Baleri Italia (formerly Cerruti Baleri) during the beginnings of Starck's career.

The bookcase with its elements and slightly inclined vertical lines is reminiscent of the wing profile of an aeroplane, casually leaning against the wall. The individual shelves are arranged vertically and hang over on both sides, resulting in a soft, familiar composition, which has slight similarities with a ladder, an 'objet trouvé', that has been modified into a bookshelf.

The complete shelf consists of a central column and five shelves in decreasing depth, manufactured from steel (with epoxy powder coating) and available in the colours matte black, white and silver metallic.
