Light, Stackable Stool
The designer Ruud-Jan Kokke created the TC stool as part of commissioned work for the Museum Boymans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. The curator Trees Coenders wanted a seat that could easily be transported. His initials were also used as a name for the stool. The stool was included in the collections of several museums and won several awards. Almost 15 years later, the Dutch label Spectrum expanded its collection with this well-known piece.

Material and Construction

The TC is made of thin birch plywood, which is specially produced for the aerospace industry. The two millimeter thick slab consists of 4 thin veneer layers. The light stool has a weight of less than 1 kg and is very durable due to its design and material. Through its evenly spaced slots, the stool appears transparent and light.

The rounded shapes and the cut out in the centre that serves as a carrying handle allow the stool to be easily transported from one place to another. Additionally, the shape of it means that several stools can be stacked on top of each other to stow them away in a space-saving manner. It is thus ideal piece of furniture for small rooms, where guests are occasionally received.

The stools are handcrafted in the Netherlands. The stool is available in light birch or stained black.
