Already in the year 1953, Alvar Aalto designed the suspension lamp. With its shape including transparent rings, the Artek A 331 ensures interesting light games.
With its mix of organic forms and Nordic clearness, the Artek A 331 Pendant Lamp is a perfect embodiment of the Alvar Aalto style. The Finnish designer initially created the A 331 for the Jyväskylä University, but it soon became a bestseller among the lamps of Artek. No wonder, since it is sculptural and decorative simultaneously when it is switched on.
The light goes directly downwards and diffusely through rings included in the corpus – with it, the A 331 pendant lamp is e.g. perfectly suitable to illuminate dining rooms. The Artek A 331 suspension can also be equipped with a 15W compact fluorescent bulb (energy saving lamp) or with a 60W bulb.
Artek manufactures the A 331 pendant lamp according to the original design by Alvar Aalto (1953) out of white lacquered aluminium. The rings are available in three different editions: out of polished brass, polished chrome or lacquered in white.
