Shiny pendant lamp with a floral pattern in the inner shade
Skygarden offers diffuse light and surprises with an unusual mix of materials for a pendant lamp: the inside of the dome is made of mechanically processed plaster cast, which looks like antique stucco work with floral motifs. The outer surface is available in two glossy lacquered surfaces (black and white) or two matt surfaces (rust brown and gold).
Skygarden is available in two sizes ( Skygarden 1 / Ø 60 cm and Skygarden 2 / Ø 90 cm).
The illuminant inside the dome is covered by a diffuser made of double, hand-blown opal glass, the lower end of which adorns a laser-cut metal pattern.
Design inspired by stucco ceilings
According to designer Marcel Wanders belief, the Skygarden lamp was inspired by an old stucco ceiling.
"In my previous house I had a fabulous antique stucco ceiling. I called it my Skygarden . He always looked good - without a green thumb and without any kind of maintenance. He needed no water or sun and lived only from those warm rays of electric light beneath it.
I liked him so much that I couldn't leave him behind when I moved out. I had to find a way to take him to my new home. So I took my tool and stole it from the ceiling. This fabulous piece of history is now hidden in a small architectural area in the heart of my new home where I can share it with friends.
If you don't tell anyone about it, I can share the secret with you. " Marcel Wanders
