Description

Conical Pendant Lamp

The PH Artichoke is a classic masterpiece created by Poul Henningsen in 1958. Henningsen is considered one of the leading figures in artistic expression between the two world wars. His designs were already produced by Louis Poulsen during his lifetime, which has not changed to this day.

Almost as popular and without doubt as stylish as Henningsen's best-known work, the PH pendant luminaire, is the Artichoke with its structure of twelve steel arches. 72 leaves are placed in twelve circular rows of six leaves each, which in combination resemble the shape of a cone.

Since each row is shifted to the previous one, all 72 sheets can "cover" each other and thus create an all-round glare-free light whose source remains concealed from every angle. The light is transmitted to the underlying leaves and reflected, creating a distinctive, unique illumination. The first Artichokens were developed for a restaurant in Copenhagen called Langelinie Pavilion - and they still hang there today.
