Iconic Pendant with Pleating
The famous model 101 by Kaare Klint - also known as the Lantern - was used already in 1942 to adorn the Danish Museum of Art and Design in Copenhagen. The Lantern is often called one of the most fascinating models by Le Klint and is even today considered to be one of the most popular design pieces in the collection.
Traditional Craftsmanship and the Latest Technology
It is the combination of craftsmanship, latest technology and design, which makes the special charm of the model 101. Being a little reminiscent of the traditional Chinese lanterns, the plastic lampshade looks like a globe pleated from paper, which exudes elegant and at the same time comforting charm with its characteristic pleating.
And the lantern can also be seen in several film, being very popular as prop. The probably most famous performance took place in the film ' Let's Make Love' from 1960, in which the lamp appears behind Marilyn Monroe in a bedroom scene, while she sings the title song.
New Edition 2007
In 2007, a remake of the iconic model 101 was created as a tribute to Kaare Klint. With an XL version and subtle, smooth steel details, the original remains in its usual form, but is however also enhanced by modern nuances.
The model 101 is available in three different sizes.
