Red Dot Design Award
Design is not free from purpose
The design competition "red dot award" was created by the Design Center North Rhine Westphalia and represented one of the most renowned international design competitions. An example: in the year 2003, 4000 competitors out of 44 countries presented their works at the red dot design-award. This prize is one of the most desired quality labels for good design.
The design competition, or better called design prize "red dot award: product design" emphasizes exceptional works of every area inside of industrial design, of sanitary and kitchen products as well as living and home design, lamps, jewelry and accessories. The products receive the approval for good and very good design quality with the "red dot".
Awarded products are exposed by the Design Center North Rhine Westphalia for at least one year in the permanent exposition in the red dot design museum (find more information about the exposition on the marked link). The Design Center North Rhine Westphalia is in one of the most important industrial architectures, the tank building of the Zeche Zollverein XII, which has been named UNESCO world culture heritage in the year 2001.
