Isabel Hamm was born in Kirchheim unter Teck in 1964 and today lives in Cologne. After her basic studies at the College for Ceramic Design in Höhr-Grenzhausen, she first opened a ceramics studio in Cologne. In 1998 Hamm changed to the Royal College of Art in London and graduated with a master's in ceramic and glass. Since 1997 she began working with glass.
Back in Germany she founded the design firm "Isabel Hamm Gestaltung" in Cologne with a focus on tableware and light. In this time Hamm also designed the Viva TV Award "Comet" (with A. Motjér). In 2000 she assumed teaching roles at colleges in Saar and Niederrhein. Today she teaches industrial and plastic design at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.
