Matti Klenell, born in 1972, graduated in 1999 from Stockholm's tradition-rich University College of Arts, Crafts and Design with a Master of Fine Arts. In the following year he founded the Matti Klenell Studio which today works for many well-known clients. Beside projects for series production, Klenell also develops unique pieces and works for public and private orders.
Matti Klenell also worked at the Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm between 2000 and 2006. Some of his works are today part of the permanent collection at the Swedish Nationalmuseum, while he has been awarded "Designer of the Year" and won numerous national and international awards.
Klenell describes his design philosophy as follows:
"A good design idea is good irrespective of whether its roots are found in form or function. For me, every project is unique and that's why I try not to limit myself with a dogma or having an approach to design - I've tried to approach my designs in a more structured manner however the results are often too rigid and unattractive. Good design has to be appealing in function and emotion."
