Mikaela Dörfel was born in 1955 in Finland. She studied industrial design at the University of Fine Arts of Hamburg. She graduated in 1988 and immediately became design manager at Rosenthal. She worked there for eight years before she opened her own business as a designer in 1996.
Since then she has worked from Hamburg for numerous famous international companies, including Mono and Auerhahn.
Mikaela Dörfel prefers to use porcelain and stainless steel in her work. In her career she consistently develops new, fascinating products.
