With the series 3107 - a design from 1955 - designer Arne Jacobsen created a chair that was to write design history. Light, easy to stack and at the same time extremely stable, the series 7 was the perfect chair for the living area. But even Jacobsen could not have imagined that the design would become one of the most popular seating furniture of the late 20. and early 2 1. century.

The chair, which has since become a classic, is produced by Fritz Hansen in a wide range of different colours and bases. This makes the 7 series extremely multifaceted. The moulded seat shells are available in ten different woods: maple, beech, ash, cherry, Oregon pine, elm, walnut, oak, dark stained oak or completely stained dark oak. The core veneer is always beech.

The classic to configure

Series 7 is an absolute all-rounder and is available both as a dining chair and as a task chair. The wide range of fabric and leather covers, with which the seat and backrest can be partially or fully upholstered, promise greater comfort. According to your own ideas, the Serie 7 chair can be configured in a wide variety of colours, bases and, if desired, with armrests.

Coloured from head to toe

New special colours and anniversary editions promise exclusivity and dress the classic in a new guise. Since 2015, for example, the Series 7 has been available both in a limited special edition, true gems with burnished and gold-plated underframes, and in a monochrome all-over look with underframes in matching colours. In addition, the classic is presented in a new colour palette by artist Tal R. This comprises both
delicate rose tones as well as rich blue nuances:

"All colours have one thing in common: they are between two colours and are continuously pulled in one of the two directions, giving the colours depth and allowing them to connect with emotional images. For me, it is important that there is also a story behind the sparkling associations to each color." says artist Tal R. "For this reason, each of the nine colors I chose for Series 7 has its own story, allowing you to see the chair in a whole new perspective."

Timeless shapes in wood

The classic, on the other hand, remains the wooden version in natural, white or black lacquer with a chrome base. Series 7 is one of the most successful designs by the Danish designer, who combined modernist minimalism with a love of natural materials in the seating furniture. With a place in the Museum of Modern Art and meanwhile several million copies sold, the Serie 7 Arne Jacobsen chair rightly belongs to the classics among seating furniture.
