Colourful Taika Series
The colourful style of the Taika series probably surprises those for whom Iittala is the epitome of traditional, Nordic functionality and simple designs: the Taika tableware series by the Finnish manufacturer evokes memories that seemed to have been forgotten long ago.
The decorative pattern for the Iittala service collection was created by design newcomer Klaus Haapaniemi. Originally, the pattern was intended to decorate Heikki Orvola's Aika series, but they were so impressed by the result that they decided to create a new series of tableware.
And indeed, Taika is different: When I was little, I always liked to watch the little mole of the Czech illustrator Zdeněk Miler and many other Eastern European and Russian animated films. I still like the handmade style of these animations , says designer Klaus Haapaniemi. In the pattern of the Taika series, the handmade, folkloristic style is clearly noticeable.
Taika offers a completely new facet to the previous Iittala range, but still takes into account the Mix & Match principle, which is known for Iittala and which stands for complete freedom of combination of all Iittala products with each other. The Taika tableware is made of high quality porcelain and is suitable for microwaves, as well as being freezer, oven and dishwasher safe.
