Graphic Cotton Tea Towels
The Illusion Tea Towels are a series of woven tea towels made of 100% thick, durable cotton. The motifs by designer Anne Lehmann are based on geometric shapes and lines - grids, pixels, circles, rectangles and squares that embellish the kitchen towels with a positive-negative optics look.
Thus, the colours are reversed on the back and quickly change appearance by turning the tea towels.
Anne Lehmann: "The idea for the tea towels developed from my desire to use weaving techniques to create new patterns. By designing attractive graphic patterns that create a new dynamic, I wanted to give an extra dimension to a product that is often very simple. Weaving is ideal for this purpose because the back of the fabric looks different, even though the patterns are the same."
The surprisingly broken pattern deceive the eye in different ways, so that each creates a distinct and special effect. Elements of classic tea towels were reinterpreted to achieve a contemporary and fashionable look.
