Bamboo is a fast re-growing grass that served as nutrition and construction material for humans since thousands of years. In the last decade, we furthermore learned how to laminate bamboo, to create especially strong wooden products.
Bamboo is shock resistant, and it can be cut easily. Because of the numerous positive qualities, the designers of Design House Stockholm decided to completely overwork some of their ancient products, and to manufacture them out of laminated bamboo wood. They have already a stylish collection out of bamboo products to present. For example the Pick Up kitchen tongs by Stig Ahlström which combines salad servers and chopsticks; David Meyhew's Whale kitchen tongs that are kept together by a magnet, the Umbra salad servers by Signe Persson-Melin, the chopping boards by Ulla Christiansson and the Hot Pot coasters by Åsa McCormac that can be folded if desired.
