The carousel was designed by German product designer Mike Ruch.

The design is inspired by the classic Christmas pyramids made of wood, which are made in the Ore Mountains. While traveling, designer Ruch was inspired to create a new metal design and gives the traditional craftsmanship a modern look.
The Silent Night Christmas carousel from Philippi is made of stainless steel and nickel-plated brass.
