The Eames Plywood Mobile models by Vitra are replicas of the original mobiles that were designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1941. The Plywood Mobiles each consist of two abstract-organic plywood elements that playfully rotate in and around each other.
The Mobiles were developed in the early 1940s during a series of experiments with plywood. Charles and Ray Eames wanted to advance the technique of plywood forming at that time. The two of them found the randomly created mobiles so beautiful that they hung up the models in their apartment in Los Angeles.
