As a designer, entrepreneur and fully established university lecturer, Carlotta de Bevilacqua is one of the major players in the world of contemporary lighting design and lighting research.

Graduated in 1983 in Architecture at Politecnico in Milan, she is the head of her lighting design office and is responsible for architectural planning and interior decoration in Italy and worldwide. Carlotta de Bevilacqua Studio was founded in 1983 as an office of architecture, interior, design, lighting andcommunication. The various competences of each area are the expression of the interdisciplinary approach of the studio, focused on the environmental quality as a continuous research in designing the contemporary human spaces.

Carlotta de Bevilacqua studio is a kind of factory, based on a team of 20 people (architects, designers and collaborators) involved in different projects paths. In consequence the competence explores different project areas: residential, office, retail, hospitality, exhibition and wellness. In every projects the theme of environmental quality becomes central according to sustainable issues and new human needs and is strictly connected to the relation between light and space.

In this design research great attention is given to the study of new materials, to the development of custom solutions and the importance for the quality of details. Until 2004 Carlotta de Bevilacqua was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Brand Strategy & Development organization within the Artemide Group. She has designed many important products for the Artemide and Danese collections. Since 2001 Carlotta de Bevilacqua was professor in charge of lighting design, Facoltà di Disegno Industriale, Politecnico di Milano.

From 1999 to 2001 she joined as the Project leader of a workshop for innovative products in the Design Strategico Master (Mip) Program at Politecnico in Milan. From 2001 to 2004, she was a lecturer in the Design Master Program at DomusAcademy and Bocconi University in Milan. Carlotta de Bevilacqua's presence is extremely appreciated at conventions and seminars, organized by Institutes qualified to explore the changes in the contemporary society and in the international markets. Carlotta de Bevilacqua has developed projects of national and international importance, cooperating on several occasions with other important architectural and engineering offices.
