Hella Jongerius, born in 1963 in Meern, Holland, studied design at the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven. She gained international recognition from her cooperation with the Netherlands design label "Droog Design". From 1998-99 she taught at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, from 2000-04 she was Head of the department Living/Atelier in the same company. In the year 2000 she founded the design studio "JongeriusLab" in Rotterdam, where she mostly designed dishes, vases, textiles and furniture – partly also manufactured and distributed on her own. Hella Jongerius' works are often bordering design and handicraft, arts and technique. She is responsible for a huge part of the constantly growing Vitra Home Collection together with Jasper Morrison and Erwan Bouroullec.
