Mattias Ståhlbom studied interior and furniture design at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Today he's partner at the internationally successful Swedish design and architecture studio TAF. His works have already been shown in prestigious museums such as MoMA in New York and the National Museum in Stockholm.
He is now considered part of the group of young designers and architects called "New Nordic". For Ståhlbom, this new movement means "fun, good social values and uncomplicated straight lines". He emphasises the internationality though also highlights the large influence of the Scandinavian "design heritage".
Ståhlbom describes his philosophy as follows: "I like uncomplicated ideas and really appreciate producing as much as possible with simple methods and materials. Things that are in reality completely ordinary then become extraordinary in this way."
