Piero Lissoni

Piero Lissoni was born in 1956 in Seregno, Italy. After his architecture studies in Milan, he worked as a designer for Molteni and Lema. In 1986 he founded the Milan-based studio "Lissoni Associat" with Nicoletta Canesi.

Based in a former silk factory in the heart of Milan's old town, Lissoni works primarily in the areas of interior and product design. As an art director and designer, he has already for numerous renowned companies such as Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Matteograssi, Porro and Thonet for many years now.

He designs showrooms, exhibitions, furniture and corporate images. His most recent works include the "S44" skid-frame chair for Thonet as well as the Boffi showrooms in New York, Los Angeles and Milan.The interior design of luxury hotels such as the Monaco & Gran Canal in Venice and the Bentley Design Hotel in Istanbul bear his signature as well as a range of private villas and yachts.Since 1993, Lissoni has worked with the Italian lamp manufacturer Artemide, for whom he has designed the Filoti, Foscarini, Casakit and Driade lamps.In 1999, Piero Lissoni was awarded the prestigious red dot award for his Supersoft armchair with armrests.Piero Lissoni is one of the most successful designers in Italy, though hardly seen in the media.He doesn't represent out-of-the-box thinking and sees his design as more of a language than as a design style that can be categorised.For Lissoni, only "form and emotion" count.
