myfelt - handmade felt rugs

The carpet manufacturer myfelt, located in Berlin, Charlottenburg, has made it its business to produce hand-knotted carpets from felt balls. The carpets combine felt, quality and design made in centuries-old craft culture from Nepal and are created in a sustainable, modern production.

High quality wool and ecological color

The carpets of myfelt are made of 100% New Zealand virgin wool, which is one of the highest quality in the world. In the carpet factory in Nepal, the untreated wool is combed and washed several times. After that, the wool is dyed in the appropriate color in the dyeing plant certified by "Label STEP®" Fair Trade according to purely ecological guidelines.

Felting and knotting

The subsequent felting is the most elaborate step. In manual labor, each individual ball is brought into its final shape through several work steps. Afterwards, the finished balls are sewn into a carpet using a knotting process specially developed by myfelt. In the process, a carpet can be created from up to 50,000 felt balls.

Durable and unique

The carpets meet the highest standards and are made of the best materials. Each rug is handmade and unique, therefore minimal color and material differences may occur in each rug. These are not a sign of inferior quality but a proof of honest handwork. The combination of workmanship, quality and choice of materials creates a unique, durable product.

Responsibility and social commitment

myfelt sees its company as a social project. Through adequate wages and fair working conditions for all people involved in the production, a modern and sustainable production chain is created. Since 2014, myfelt has been working with the GoodWeave seal, one of the largest Fairtrade companies in the carpet industry. Their inspectors can check the work processes in the myfelt manufactory at any time and unannounced to ensure the high Fairtrade standards. GoodWeave is committed to combating child labor and to the reintegration into society of children from the carpet industry. To this end, the GoodWeave standard also takes into account social and ecological criteria.
