The name "Rosenthal" stands for contemporaneous design and arts in porcelain and glass and still more: Rosenthal stands for luxury, lifestyle and a special aesthetic for products that are indispensable, out of demanding table culture and adequate, modern interiors.
The Rosenthal history begun in 1879, when Philipp Rosenthal opened a porcelain workshop in the castle Erkersreuth. The first sell-successes started in the 19th century and the small company became the private company Philipp Rosenthal & C. in 1897.
The first Rosenthal shop with its own products was founded in 1917, all branded "Rosenthal" – all of them best-sellers. Cooperation with Walt Disney started, the company has been awarded and more working areas emerged on the arts market for Rosenthal.
A survey by Gruner + Jahr prove that Rosenthal was the most famous porcelain manufacture in Germany in 1995. Rosenthal's fame is especially shown since the manufacture could equip representative rooms in the German council in 2000 as celebration of its 125 anniversary, opening an own museum in 2004.
