Coffee Mug with Sun Motif
Girard often worked as an interior designer for restaurant facilities and was not limited to colour schemes and furniture design - instead, his design work extended to details such as menus, matchbooks, utensils and napkins. This diverse world was the starting point and inspiration for the series of Coffee Mug designs.
Drinks Stylishly Served
Various motifs adorn the stylish coffee cups and will ensure a good mood over breakfast or when you are enjoying a cosy cup of tea in the afternoon. The New Sun shows triangular fragments that combine to form a golden sun in a modern style.
Manufactured from robust porcelain in a traditional factory, the mug is dishwasher and food safe. With a capacity of 300 ml, it offers enough space for hot and cold beverages of all kinds to serve in a stylish manner.
The designer Alexander Girard was, alongside George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames, one of the most influential figures in American design during the post-war period. The focus of his work was on textile design, but Girard then emerged as a furniture, graphic, exhibition and interior designer. Girard brought a sensuous playfulness to twentieth-century design, which the classic expression of modernity had been missing.
