Glass for Indian Pale Ale
The IPA glass from Spiegelau has been developed in collaboration with the leading IPA Brewers in the United States, Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head and Ken Grossman, Sierra Nevada, and is part of the craft beer glass series from the crystal glass manufacturer.
Hollow, Ribbed Shaft and Thin Glass
Indian Pale Ale was originally brewed for the long sea voyage from England to the Indian colonies. It is a light beer with a high content of alcohol and hops, creating a stronger and more intense taste with a fruity note. The thin wall of the IPA glass keeps the freshness and coolness of the beer in the glass. The hollow, ribbed shaft vents the beer when being poured and therefore increases the development of flavours and thus its taste. The mouth rim diameter leads the beer directly on the middle of the palate, which slightly emphasizes the sweetness and the nose perceives the flavour with every sip that's taken.
Craft Beer Glass Series
Spiegelau Glas, together with an expert team of brewers and specialists of the beer industry have developed glass forms, which do justice to the refined taste profiles of the craft beer varieties Indian pale ale, American wheat beer, stout and barrel aged beer. The glass shapes specially designed for the beer bring out the flavour and the texture of each beer perfectly and make the drinking of beer a culinary highlight. The Craft Beer Glass Series from Spiegelau won the Dot Award and IDEA Red Gold Award in 2015, for their functional and innovative design.
