The Design Plus design award is assigned within the framework of the Ambiente international consumer goods trade fair in Frankfurt.
The Design Plus award, presented by a distinguished jury in conjunction with the Ambiente international consumer goods trade fair in Frankfurt, stands for product design which is not merely an end in itself but instead very much exemplary and trend-setting.
There's often too much design around, but never enough good design.
This insight prompted the launching in 1983 of the Design Plus competition by Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with the "Rat für Formgebung" (Design Council) and the Deutschen Industrie- und Handelskammertag / Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK).
The Design Plus Award is a distinction that is awarded by an international jury of renowned experts among all competitive products that are sent in by the exhibitors of the Ambiente international consumer goods trade fair in Frankfurt. The winners (the exhibitor, the manufacturer, and the participating designers) get the Design Plus in the form of a certificate. As long as the award-winning product is offered in an unmodified way, the manufacturer can mark it with the official signet Design Plus and the corresponding date of the awards show.
