Flexible shelving systems in stimulating colours
The Danish furniture manufacturer Montana was founded in 1982 by Peter J. Lassen and is still a family-run business today. The manufacturer is one of the leading companies for modular shelving systems for the own four walls and also public areas such as offices.
"Good design requires honesty and respect." Peter Lassen
Peter Lassen designed the iconic Montana shelving system. The company is now managed by his son Joakim Lassen. Manufactured in the company's own factory in Denmark, the shelving system stands out above all due to its wide range of colours. The flexible system fits perfectly into any ambience and can be individually designed. Montana allows creative freedom and can be an expression of personal style. In addition to the shelving system, the Montana collection also includes table and chair series by Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton and many other renowned designers.
Montana and the EU Ecolabel
Since the company's first environmental project with the Danish Environmental Protection Agency in 1992, Montana has focused on improving its environmentally friendly product development methods. The acquisition of the recognised EU Ecolabel for the core products Montana System and Montana System CO16 as well as the Montana Free product line is an important milestone in the company's history.
Montana is thus one of the first Danish furniture manufacturers to receive the official European Union eco-label. When developing EU Ecolabel criteria for products, the focus is on the entire life cycle of the product, from raw material extraction through production to distribution and disposal.
"Obtaining this certification was very important to us and we have been working towards it for a long time. I am delighted that Montana is one of the first furniture manufacturers in Europe to achieve this, because I consider sustainability to be an essential part of our responsibility as a manufacturer in Denmark. Companies are no longer judged solely by profit or international rankings. Instead, they are judged by the footprint they leave behind, and that is why we always work to high quality standards to ensure that our furniture will last for generations". Joakim Lassen.
