Design classic: wire chair made of steel
In the early 1950s the designer Harry Bertoia designed a number of seating furniture with steel frame, which "mostly consist of air " said the designer himself. The Bertoia Chair and Diamond Chair are the most popular ones of these designs. Now elevated to design classics, the designs symbolically stand for the innovative design of the 50s and its inventor: Harry Bertoia.
Sculptural chair made of steel wire
The Bertoia Chair is made of steel wire, which is hand drawn and hand welded in a highly complicated process. Thanks to the industrial material and the flowing form, the Bertoia Chair acts like a sculptural work of art, whose delicate silhouette seems to hide about the strength and stability of the construction.
