Description

Ballo Toilet Brush is a different, amusing and happy toilet brush, designed by Jozeph Forakis.

Ballo wishes you a colourful welcome to your bathroom, and wobbles back and forth, which is where its name comes from; Ballo means "dance" in Italian. The Ballo design arose from playing with the concept of balance. Balance is central to Ballo's design, it is what creates its playful and light expression. All in one go, Ballo creates surprise, an experience and a smile for its users.

Jozeph Forakis grew up as the child of artists in New York, and design and materials' qualities have always played a part in his life. He currently lives and works in Milan, where he partly works on innovative ways of using news and existing materials, and partly works with interaction design, in which the user's behaviour affects the design.

Jozeph Forakis says: "I am fascinated by the design of behaviour and gestures. A product becomes interesting and gets life from the energy created between a product and its user, in the interaction between them. Like a good tool which is suited to its purpose, the design is born from first designing the behaviour without compromising the function. Ballo moves, almost dances on the bathroom floor. It's a funny but functional product that creates pleasure and gives an experience in people's daily lives."

Ballo Toilet Brush is available in four lively colours.

The video points out the design’s actual clou: the spherical holder of the toilet brush Ballo balances itself every time after being unhinged after usage. It’s a cheerful design for your bathroom.

Striking but functional

We got this to replace our Alessi toilet brush which was rubbish, so ended up in the rubbish. By contrast, the Ballo toilet brush has a soft brush head (unlike the Alessi 'brush' which is made of hard rubber spikes that end up quite disgusting after a short time). It sits in a large oval base that looks very striking in the bathroom. Yes, it's made from plastic, but that just makes it lightweight and softer to the touch. Infinitely better than the Alessi version.

Who thought toilet brushes couldn't look good is wrong. Ballo is a really nice toilet brush, almost like a sculpture it stands in the bathroom. Optically it is bigger than expected, the only disadvantage is that there is too little space between brush and style. Therefore, the lower head area gets completely wet and must always be cleaned additionally afterwards.

for the price... I don't think so!

We didn't buy the toilet brush here but still want to rate it. The brush looks really big - bigger than in the catalogue! It does swing funny, but the workmanship ... is not appropriate to the price in our opinion. Visible noses from the plastic shaping are on the handle and these were completely untalented "carved off".
